Amy feels like this business is totally for her!
Amy found out about GeekPack® and WP Rockstar right after she got laid off from her corporate job over something that was out of her control. Even though it had nothing to do with her work, her confidence took a big hit and she was scared of applying for other corporate jobs.
It had never occurred to her that there were opportunities outside of the corporate world, that she could work from home and find something she actually enjoyed doing.
“Attending GeekWeek had shown me that there are more options than just going back into a corporate job and that I could actually work from home and earn money doing something I enjoyed.”
Amy was super excited that GeekWeek happened during International Geek Pride day - and yes, that’s exactly why we run it in May every year 😉
She had dabbled into some HTML before, but her mind was still blown by how much it had changed. She was also super impressed with how supportive and engaged the community was.
She then decided to take the leap and sign up for WP Rockstar.
“The course definitely helped get me up to date on skills. It's easy to follow. I didn't feel too intimidated because everyone walks you through every step of the program and it makes you feel like you can do it.”
Community is a big reason why Amy is so happy with the course. Changing from the corporate world to working from home was amazing, but all of a sudden she didn’t have the social contact with co-workers. So having a community of like-minded people that genuinely want to see you succeed makes a big difference.
“You have a whole village to support you with any questions, concerns, and to give you advice and to lift you up.”
Amy earned back her investment in the course in three months. She reached out to people in her inner circle who she knew could use her services, and found a client who needed their site updated.
“It only took me three months to earn back my initial investment… When I started the course was reaching out to people I knew to help them. And through that, I grew into reaching others through referrals.”
In Amy’s opinion, what makes WP Rockstar stand out from all the other courses out there is the amazing community. She can connect with others in the industry and find support for any issue she may have.
“The ability to reach out to real-world coaches and people in the industry, and they're more than eager to help you as well. The material's well organized, so you're not fudging your way trying to figure out where you left off.”
Working from home was life-changing for Amy, and she feels like the course gave her the confidence to believe she can totally do this.
“If you're on the fence thinking about joining WP Rockstar, I'd say definitely go for it. You might feel intimidated or scared, but everyone is there to help see you through it. It's worth it. You'll feel better. You'll know you did something that's going to help you in the future. And working from home is amazing and life-changing as well.”
We are SO happy to have Amy as a member of our community and can’t wait to see what her future holds.
If you, like Amy, do NOT want to go back to corporate jobs, we’d also love to support you through this journey!

How did you find out about WP Rockstar?
I first found out about WP Rockstar in May when I attended GeekWeek of, you know, the free webinar. And that taught everyone the basics of coding and how to get into this business.
What was your life like before you joined WP Rockstar?
Before I joined WP Rockstar, I had recently been fired from a job and had no clue what to do next. I lost all my confidence and attending GeekWeek had shown me that there's more options than just going back into a corporate job and that I could actually work from home and earn money doing something I enjoyed.
What actions did you take as a result of taking the course and being part of the community?
As a result of taking the course and being part of the GeekPack® community, I definitely grew my confidence to know this business, to reach out and network with other people for help if need be, and just to feel supported and have that confidence to go for anything out there.
Did you have an experience as a freelancer or building websites prior to joining WP Rockstar?
Prior to joining WP Rockstar, I had very limited experience with HTML back in the nineties, so I had a very outdated basis before.
No freelancing experience. Just a little bit of coding, outdated coding experience.
Have you ever had any contact with coding before the course or did you feel intimidated by it?
Before the course I'd had limited experience with html. So the course definitely helped get me up to date on skills. It's easy to follow. I didn't feel intimidated because everyone walks you through every step of the program and makes you feel like you can do it.
How long did it take you to earn back your enrollment investment?
I earned back my investment from taking the course at WP Rockstar. It only took me three months to earn back my initial investment.
It just happened for me, so it's amazing.
Can you talk a little bit about your first project and how you made your first thousand dollars and found your first client?
The first project I got was from someone who had initially had a relative do their website on on Wix, and they were looking to freshen up their site to bring it current, to start to get more traffic to their site and add some privacy policies on to it as well.
So I got in touch with the client and, and they signed on with me to update their site, add on analytics, add privacy policies, and also signed up to do monthly maintenance with me as well.
So we can keep their site up to date and not let it fall behind again.
How did you find this first client?
I found my first client through networking with people in my inner circle. That's where I started. When I started the course was reaching out to people I knew to help them. And through that, I grew into reaching others through referrals.
How much time on average did you put into the course?
At first when I signed up because I wasn't working, I put in like eight-hour days into the course because I could. But now that I have a client and I've done the course in general, I still have at least an hour or so a day where I go into the community to see what's going on and to help support others still in similar situations.
Did you finish the course or are you still going through it?
I technically finished the course. I still haven't submitted my last official project to get my certificate just because I got busy with my first client and everything. But I did finish.
Did you feel supported when going through the WP Rockstar curriculum and being part of the GeekPack® community?
The best part about the WP Rockstar curriculum is that there is the GeekPack® community for you to feel supported. You can go to GeekPack® with any questions. And to know that there are also people just like you, asking the same questions is a big bonus because you're not out there alone trying to figure things out.
You have a whole village to support you with any questions, or concerns, and to give you advice and to lift you up.
What are your future plans?
My future plans after WP Rockstar is just to keep learning on my own and support others around me who are in the similar situation. You know, I appreciate where I came from and I'm excited that this course has empowered me to want to help others do the same thing as well.
What stood out to you about GeekPack® and WP Rockstar?
The things that stand out to me about GeekPack® and WP Rockstar is just the amazing community that is associated with it. The ability to reach out to real world coaches and people in the industry, and they're more than eager to help you as well. The material's well organized, so you're not fudging your way trying to figure out where you left off.
It makes sense, the flow of it and just the real ability that there are others just like you, without the experience going through the same thing. So, you know, you're not alone.
What would you say to someone who is on the fence about joining WP Rockstar?
If you're on the fence thinking about joining WP Rockstar, I'd say definitely go for it. You might feel intimidated or scared, but everyone is there to help see you through it. It's worth it. You'll feel better. You'll know you did something that's going to help you in the future. And working from home is amazing and life-changing as well.
I'm just appreciative of everything that even you guys behind the scenes do for the course. You know, just I'm sure you guys don't hear a lot of thank you's, but just, you know, I know it takes a lot of people that make it happen and I luckily got to know, you know, see some of the behind the scenes just to be able to say like thanks work, you know, that's just a success story.
I can't say that word, but, you know, it's just that it totally probably makes it worth it when, you know, people are appreciative.
Even just like watching and seeing, like even though, like, I already knew that whole you know, I just was watching like for support and stuff. But seeing that again, it just brought me back to like that first day when I was that person and know I was overwhelmed with. I'm like, I just need to say thank you.
Like, because I was there and now I'm here and, you know, it's a good feeling.
Do you feel like this is something you can do long-term?
Yes. Going through WP Rockstar is what gave me the confidence to know that this business is for me and I can do this. And it's an amazing feeling.
