Case Study: Aly Robins

By Joining WP Rockstar, Aly Could Hit 8k Months And Quit Her 9-5

Aly Robins

https://www.alyrobins.com/

With no prior tech skills, Aly was able to quit her 9-5 and build websites for a living within 6 months of joining the program!

“I have to say this is one of the best programs I've ever taken. And I've taken many. This program gives you the support you need to be successful.”

Before joining the program, Aly was offering Facebook Ads as a service. She soon realized though, that her clients really needed websites.

Seeing that as a great opportunity, she started looking more into it. She had worked with Wix in the past, but she was not happy with the experience. She wanted to offer a better solution, so she started looking more into WordPress.

She found Julia and WP Rockstar through a Facebook Ad and decided to give it a go. She knew that websites were really in-demand and that it was something that really frustrated her clients.

“Actually, the majority of my clients try to do it themselves, but they get so frustrated and they don't know what to do.”

Aly has a big passion for the agriculture industry, and that’s where she focused her business on. She finds that most people in her industry are not really tech-savvy, so it means a lot to her that she can help them with this.

“I get to work with them and really elevate their business through a website. And so yeah, I really, really enjoy what I do.”

Six months after joining the program she had landed enough clients, that it allowed her to quit her 9-5 job and focus on her business full-time.

Her business really took off and she’s doing amazing!

Actually, I've made more money this year than I have in all of last year.”

Aly made her investment back in less than a month!

With Julia’s encouragement to post about it on social media, she quickly landed her first client and charged $1,200 for her first website.

“I can't even tell you how many times over I've made back my money. It's more than 20 for sure. And it's just 100% worth it.”

By joining WP Rockstar, Aly not only learned a lot, but she got the push she needed to really start to take action in her business.

“I really started to take that action to move towards my goals, which was something that really changed my life… And so the group has really encouraged me to be the business owner I wanted to be and help the people I want to help with online.”

Aly’s hit a significant amount of milestones in her online career, but the two most significant ones for her were hitting 8k months and quitting her 9-5 job.

All of these had a huge impact in her personal life and her career growth.

“My personal life is a lot better because I own my own business now. I don't have to really answer to anybody. I get to grow as fast and as much as I want.”

She kept raising her prices and has hit 10k months since then.

Aly was not techy at all when she started learning and she always felt like coding was super intimidating. But she was determined to try and now she builds websites for a living!

“It was very intimidating, especially because I barely knew how to make a Facebook post when I first started this stuff. But I knew that this could change my life and everybody else's life. So I'm like - Well, if Julia says I can do it, then I'm going to do it.”

For anyone who’s on the fence about joining WP Rockstar, Aly’s advice is to ask all the questions you have and give it a go! If you’re not doing it because you’re fearful, then you’re missing out on an amazing opportunity to change your life!

“I get pretty hyped up about this stuff just because I'm just amazed now how it's changed my life. The courses and all of the work you guys do in this program, it's just incredible.”

We are SO happy to have Aly as a member of our community and we’re super proud of everything she’s achieved so far.

If you, like Aly, would like to give tech a go, we’d also love to support you through this journey!

How did you find out about WP Rockstar and GeekPack?

Yeah, so I found out about Julia’s course through a Facebook ad actually. So I knew Facebook ads worked because I have taken courses on them. And so I knew if I typed in WordPress, website, help or whatever, you know, I don't remember the exact words, but I knew those Facebook ads would kind of help me out and lead me towards my best resource. And so I was typing that in because a lot of my clients didn't really need Facebook ads. They needed websites, and as it turns out my audiences, they don't even have a website. So I really wanted to start there, but I wanted to do a good job because I used Wix in the past and the Wix is awful. So that's how I found Julia's course.

Would you say that building websites are really in demand?

Yeah. So websites are in high demand, especially after the pandemic. I think a lot of people are realizing they need to have an online presence and a lot of people try to do it themselves. Actually, the majority of my clients try to do it themselves, but they get so frustrated and they don't know what to do. And so they come to me and that's kind of where we move their website over to WordPress because it's so much easier to use for one. And then the functionality is insane of how much like there are so many plugins. And so anyways, yeah, the websites at least in my industry are in high demand. And so it's, I think there are many, many people that could start a business with making websites and do exactly what I do, which is there are so many people that need websites I can possibly serve them all.

You mentioned your clients and your industry a lot, and I know that's something you're really passionate about. Can you tell me a bit about the industry that you serve?

So a lot of my clients are in the agriculture industry and you know, the agriculture industry is, like you said, a huge passion of mine. But a lot of people don't really know. They're not exactly the best on the technology side. And I mean, I think most business owners don't know how to make a website, but so yeah, a lot of the people in my industry barely know how to run a computer. And, you know, a lot of people my age are pretty tech savvy, but they just don't want to deal with the website. And so that's kind of where I come along and I am able to support a lot of the ag industry, not just farmers and ranchers, but consultants in agriculture or people who work not directly in farming or arranging, but support that type of industry. I get to work with them and really elevate their business through a website. And so yeah, I really, really enjoy what I do. I'm 25 years old actually, in a couple of days. And so I yeah, I work a lot with actually probably like my parents' generation. And so the generation before me, you know, they just don't even know where to start sometimes with the website. And so, but then I do work with a lot of people in my generation as well, just because they know they need a website, but they just want somebody to get them going. And so, for example, a lot of people in my age group, I'll set up the website and then I'll transfer it over to them so they have a successful start and then they can continue, you know, once I train them on how to make the website, continue the updated and everything, they are able to take it over successfully and update it as they please instead of hosting with me, which I really like, because I think a successful website is the one that the business owner knows how to run and update themselves because it's basically the image of their business. So yeah, I guess I work with a variety of people, but mostly the people that want to take it over are kind of my generation because they're easier for them to pick up.

What did life look like for you before you joined WP Rockstar?

Yeah, so before I joined WP Rockstar, I was working for the NRC. S So the NRC is the Natural Resources Conservation Service and they work with farmers and ranchers out in their place. So I did a lot of grazing plans and you know, but it was a 9 to 5 job. And so there were a lot of times where I didn't have any projects, but I still had to go to work. And it was annoying to me because I would work 8 hours but only work 4 hours. And so I felt like I was wasting a lot of my time there. And I, you know, I really, really enjoyed working with the farmers and ranchers, but I kind of wanted a little more freedom. I wanted to make more money. And so this was a perfect opportunity for me to do that.

Did learning those skills enabled you to leave your 9 to 5?

Yeah. So after I joined WP Rockstar and GeekPack, I quit my job about six months later, six or seven months later. So I was able to, you know, land enough clients to take this thing full time and I just totally enjoyed it. Actually, I've made more money this year than I have in all of last year. So it's huge , it's just a really fun thing for me to do. And it's so awesome to be able to help these ag businesses in the process of growing my own business. So yeah.

Have you made back your investment?

Yes, I have definitely made back my investment into the program. I have to say this is one of the best programs I've ever taken. And I've taken many probably a lot of online business owners have. This program gives you the support you need to be successful. In the past, I've taken some programs where it was just missing a lot of the support. You know, they would have that Facebook group, but they would kick you out too soon, especially for the people who are still in their 9 to 5. We don't exactly have as much time as we had in our full time job doing this. So the program is absolutely incredible. I've totally made my back, my money, and I can't even tell you how many times over I've made back my money. It's more than 20 for sure. And it's just 100% worth it. If this is something even if you're not looking to start a business with this, if you want to make your own website or if you are wanting to start a business, this is an incredible way. So much support, so many. The community is incredible. I wouldn't have been able to be successful without that community. I can tell you that.

How quickly did you make back your investment? Have you got a timeframe?

Yes. So actually, I made back my investment, it was within the month because Julia encouraged us to post on our social media, Hey, I'm a web developer. And as scary as it was, because I wasn't even, you know, I wasn't through the whole course yet and I wasn't exactly feeling confident, but I did what she said. And so I landed a client and they paid for, you know, my first website where I charge 1200 dollars. And so there you go.

What actions did you take as a result of joining the program?

Yeah. So some of the actions I've taken since joining the program are just taking action. I guess a lot of people do the courses and they learn so much, but they don't actually do anything with it because they feel like they don't have enough knowledge. And so after joining that program, I hired a coach, too, because I knew what goals I wanted to accomplish with my website development business. I started posting on social media like crazy, and I was landing clients from it. I really started to take that action to move towards my goals, which was something that really changed my life. You know, we tend to set goals, but we never tend to move forward and reach those goals and we can never figure out why, but it's the action that's missing. And so the group has really encouraged me to be the business owner I wanted to be and help the people I want to help with online. So that's the group. The group has really given me the courage to do and reach my goals, I guess.

Do you feel supported when going through WP Rockstar?

I feel one hundred percent supported one going through WP Rockstar. There isn't a better program when it comes to teaching you a skill such as website development where it's really difficult to to teach it in the first place. But Julia has such a great skill set in doing that. So that's one way, that's a great way to it's a great supportive group. And then too you learn the thing, but then you have all these questions and that's where that Facebook group comes in and it's so supportive. Your questions always get answered. I've been in other groups where it's a paid grouping and people don't answer my question and I kind of rely on that. And so this group, where Julia has the team members in place to make sure that your answer, your question gets answered and that you are being supported because that's what makes you successful. And so I 100% feel supported in this group, and I really adore the group. Like it's kind of my it's on my shortcuts and my Facebook group. It is pretty awesome. I just love going in there and seeing everyone sharing their wins. And some of the wins that you share are incredible. Like all the milestones you keep having is just insane.  So some of the significant milestones I've had after joining GeekPack are being able to hit 8k  months, so I never thought I would be able to do that for one and then two. But the other big milestone I had was quitting my full time job. It's a very scary thing when you're in the moment. You know, you just think there's no way I could do this because of that sense of security. But since I've joined this program, I have been able to do all those things. And then also I have my personal life is a lot better because I own my own business. Now. I don't have to know, I don't have to really answer to anybody. I get to grow as fast and as much as I want, which is something that me personally, that's that was what I struggled with in my full time job, is, you know, I had all these things I wanted to do and I couldn't because it's you know, you're working for somebody else. And so a lot of great things have come out of this program. And I'm very passionate about it, too, just because of the amount of inspiration and work and dedication that the Pack brings to the community. I mean, Julia is amazing and all of her team members are just incredible and they are so supportive. And I yeah, that's why I love the group, because without this group, I wouldn't have been able to leave my full time job, that's for sure. It's just incredible the amount of value that it brings to everybody's lives. It's just Yeah. So I am a little emotional too because it's awesome.

What are your future plans?

Yeah. So some of my future plans are to encourage other people to try to develop websites. Right. Whether it's whether they make their own business out of it or they develop their own business website. I really think that the website world is kind of pushed to the side, but after the pandemic, they are really realizing how bad they need a website. And so I really want to, you know, whether it's bringing other people to the GeekPack world where they learn how to create the website. That's kind of what I want to do. And then just encourage people to get online because the online world can really change your business, whether it's a website or, you know, you create a membership course like Julia's. It's just I think the ag industry is really missing out on a lot because they just don't know it's there. And so that's kind of my future plans. I'm going to encourage people to market themselves online, get a website up for their business and scale their businesses so they can make money.

Going from that into a tech-based career, was that intimidating as someone new to her and as a woman?

Yeah. So it was very intimidating because coding sounds scary and, you know, people go to school for this stuff. And it was really intimidating once I kind of dive into the courses, but Julia was able to be so supportive of, you know, that's what really kept me going. But yeah, it was, it was very intimidating, especially because I barely knew how to make a Facebook post when I first started this stuff. And, you know, but I knew that this could change my life and everybody else's life. So I'm like, Well, if Julia says I can do it, then I'm going to do it. So yeah, it was kind of scary at first. I put a lot of hours in, you know, just like everybody in the tech world, I guess, or whoever started their own business.

Would you recommend Rockstar and GeekPack to someone who's on the fence?

Yes. If you were on the fence for WP Rockstar and GeekPack, of course, then just go for it. Because for one, you're what is there to lose? You're going to learn how to make a website. And the amount of skills that also come with making the website is incredible. And so, you know, if you are on the fence, I highly encourage you to reach out to the people who you have questions for because you're missing out if it's all if you're only not going to take the course because you're a little bit fearful, then you're missing out. And I don't want you to miss out on this course, huh? I get pretty hyped up about this stuff just because I'm just amazed now how it's changed my life and like the courses and all of the work you guys do in this program, it's just incredible. And I just love communities like this, you know, when they're passionate about it, then I become passionate just because they're passionate, you know like it's that's so I love this stuff.
