“I like to work behind the scenes because I can do it during my own time. I need the flexibility to always be able to do my work, but then be available for [personal] things that pop up.”
After years as a Virtual Assistant, Heather is now a content specialist who works with other entrepreneurs.
She found GeekPack through one of our annual events and decided to join The GeekPack Collective shortly after.
She was struggling for a while to get out of the Virtual Assistant umbrella, but she knew that raising her prices as a VA would not be a very easy task.
“I had operated under the virtual assistant umbrella for many years and I kind of was rocking back and forth between staying under that umbrella because it’s comfy and people understand it versus going a higher end route and having to actually explain over and over and over again what it is that I do.”
When she joined The GeekPack Collective, Heather snagged an awesome 20-minute coffee chat with one of our coaches, Lydia.
The topic was completely open so she decided to talk about her pricing, as that’s what she was struggling with at the time.
Lydia told her about Julia’s strategy when she started out, of gradually raising her prices with every new client she got and that was very helpful for Heather.
It sounded totally doable to her and she now has a brand new larger service package.
Talking to Lydia helped her figure out how she could have fewer clients and make the same amount of money (or more).
“It was great being able to sit and chat with Lydia and get some ideas of where to go from someone who’s already kind of been through the ropes.”
Her favorite thing about The GeekPack Collective is the monthly bite-sized content. Every month we have a different training, one for a digital skill and one for a business skill.
These trainings are under 20 minutes, with an option to go deeper if you’d like.
She can’t always join the lives, but when she can’t, she catches the replay and she was particularly happy with the Goal Setting Masterclass we have every quarter.
“I never knew it was so simple. I’ve never actually done something that I could implement straight away. So I actually did it yesterday. And then I loaded my calendar with all my plans for the next quarter. So that was really, really good.”
Heather believes that to make the most out of The Collective you need to be willing to ask questions. She loves how we’re open to suggestions and try to tailor our content to what our members are asking for.
“I had some questions about cold emails and I just contacted her through circle and she just gave me a couple of different options on Udemy. I think you have to be willing to ask the questions in order to get the help.”
Because we have both simplified and in-depth content, Heather believes there’s a broad type of people who would really benefit from The GeekPack Collective – the key is to ask questions and engage in the community to get the help you need.
“Anyone who’s interested in learning and growing in that tech stuff and who can handle both things that are simplified and like the opportunity to go deeper.”
If you, like Heather, want to progress in your virtual assistant career, we’d also love to support you through this journey!
